1) происходящее в природе приспособление вируса к размножению в новом хозяйском организме или приобретение устойчивости к лекарственным препаратам;2) методический прием, позволяющий получать варианты вируса, способные размножаться в культурах ткани; напр., применительно к вирусу гепатита А, первичные изоляты которого не размножаются в культурах ткани, В.а. предполагает его длительное (несколько недель) пассирование, при котором происходит отбор различных вариантов.см. также адаптацияТолковый биотехнологический словарь.
